You only get one placenta, use it for your self-care during your postpartum recovery.

Changing the world begins with strengthening your own.

Postpartum recovery is an important part of the birth experience.

With an infant to nurture and a family to care for, moms don't always get time to recover physically and emotionally. Mothers who have used products made from their own placenta report feeling better overall during their recovery.

Potential Placenta Encapsulation Benefits:

  • Increased breast milk supply

  • Less postpartum mood disorder (depression, anxiety, psychosis)

  • Increased energy

  • Better bonding with baby

  • Balanced hormones

  • Iron replenishment

  • Helps uterus return to pre-pregnancy state

  • Weight loss

  • Family functions better because mom feels better

Our encapsulation process helps maximize the benefits of your placenta and is as convenient as taking a prenatal vitamin.

How Bloom is unique!

Bloom serves serves clients throughout the state of Utah and processes the placenta in a solely dedicated professional kitchen used only for processing placenta products. This means potential contaminates will not be anywhere near your placenta. Most of our competition actually processes right in their own personal home kitchen. Strict standards are followed to safeguard the health and safety of our clients and their babies.

Training & Safety Procedures

We encourage our clients to work closely with their healthcare providers if there are concerns about the health of the placenta. The Bloom encapsulation team is thoroughly trained.

They have completed OSHA-approved Blood-born Pathogen and Infection Control training and have Utah food handlers permits and are Association of Placenta Preparation Arts (APPA) certified, which is the most comprehensive placenta preparation training available.

The Bloom kitchen has three separate stations for processing placentas. Each station has a dehydrator that heats from the top down. To ensure that the placenta is safe, we always heat it to 160 degrees for 24 hours.  And we follow very strict labeling processes in our professional kitchen to ensure your placenta is secure.

At Bloom we work hard to set the highest standards of service and quality for our clients. This is why we chose to certify through the Association of Placenta Preparations Arts, or APPA. Through over 100 hours of training we learned everything from the anatomy and cultural traditions of the placenta and, most importantly, the safety processes, safe blood born pathogens handling, proper storage and processing temperatures, and the info we value most, when it is not safe to encapsulate. With so many misconceptions and improper handling processes out there, we are proud to have the only professional placenta kitchen in the state of Utah and hold this comprehensive certification. We are confident you will be in good hands with your Bloom Association of Placenta Preparation Arts Certified specialist.

My husband is grossed out by this, what should I say to him?

We always try to empathize with a husband that does not agree with his wife consuming her encapsulated placenta. However, we also find that most of the time, there is some resentment when he does not agree to this and she feels like she could benefit. We often find that when people are educated they are more open to what we do and can see why a new mom would want to do this to enhance her postpartum recovery. IN addition, if mom feels better, the family functions better and dad’s life is easier.

If it helps, we created this video to help dads hopefully understand a little more.

Placenta Service Descriptions

Traditional Chinese Method

The placenta is steamed to 160 degrees before being dehydrated at 140 degrees for a minimum of 12 hours. Nothing is added to the steamed placenta, other than ginger and lemon essential oils to the steamed water. This method is based on the traditional Chinese medicine practice, where it is believed that adding energy via heat to the placenta can promote better recovery during the postpartum period. It is also less potent, which can be a good thing for a mom that is prone to depression or anxiety. Finally, this method is scientifically proven to kill off bacteria, so this is the method we use for a mom that is GBS+

Raw Start Dehydration Method

This method is prepared by thinly slicing the placenta raw prior to dehydration. After dehydration the placenta is then ground into a fine powder and placed into capsules. This method is recommended for mothers who's diet is more aligned with raw food preparations.

Placenta Tincture

A small piece of placenta is placed within grain alcohol to create a tincture. This tincture can be used when the placenta pills are finished to offer a similar support to the mother.
